How To Treat Gillian-barre Syndrome?

My friend is being treated for Gillian-barre syndrome - he has many of the markers but instead of achy or tingling extremities he says they feel like they are on fire - his pain stays between 7-10 on a 1-10. They are administering neuron tin, Percocet and some dilaudid but the relief is minimal - could the diagnosis be incorrect

See guillan barre syndrome presents with ascending type of paralysis,facial paralysis is common involvement,commonly history of diarrhea in recent past is present,it resolves on its own,symptomatic management and I.v immunoglobulins are given,it provides some faster recovery,
