How To Treat G6PD ?

Hello doctor, I have a question, Im a female and I was told I have G6PD I m not infected I m a carrier, and as most people I don t have any reaction when having any type of beans or why I apply Henna. I have experienced hair loss for a few years now it has gotten better but Im just wondering if it has anything to do with G6PD and if there anything I can do to prevent it from being very severe? Also is it safe for me to color my hair with Henna and Indigo. Thank u so much Haifa

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Hair fall has nothing to do with G-6-PD deficiency.
G-6-PD deficiency is due to lack of particular enzyme involved in the carbohydrate metabolism.
The consequence of G-6-PD deficiency is development of anemia when exposed to oxidative stress.
Oxidative stress is precipitated by certain drugs and food items.
Topical application of any chemical (henna or indigo) will not have any deleterious effect.
You need to consult your doctor and keep the list of all the chemicals and drugs which are likely to cause oxidative stress.

Thanks and take care
