How To Treat CHF?

my boy friend was just diagnosed with CHFbody full of edema 45 lbs,and an ef of 18 thy got 40 lbs off with lasix and
put him on alot of heart meds , how long do we have ? he was a big vadka drinker for years and has stoped drinking as of now . can he get better?

     It is difficult to assess life expectancy - it depends upon ejection fraction of heart / valves’ integrity and function / wall of the chambers / arrhythmia, their nature and frequency / renal function / response to medicines .     
The treating doctor alone can suggest further based on his assessment of the situation.
Further deterioration can be prevented or postponed by aggressive management.
If there is further deterioration, heart transplantation may be the answer...
