How To Stop Cough That Causes Pain In Lungs And Ribs?

I got antibiotics and steroids last week for lung infection/flu symptoms...still sick this week with a persistent painful cough which cannot be controlled or contained.. lungs and ribs hurt when coughing and it appears I am coughing up "scabs" from my lungs...did not get a flu shot this year, should I get one now?? Also what can stop the cough?? I can't go to work, it racks me with pain

I really understand your problem if this is allergic oriented cough then this will take little more time to come around, you can take drug for this but the role of drug is very minimal, instead you can try pure honey 20 mg at bed time, for symptomatic relief long acting second generation antihistamine can be taken and the best drug is "Loratidine" three times in day one drug, nothing to worry about this it will come around soon.

Hi, stopping cough depends on the type. If productive and if your lung is involved then stoping cough will cause you more problem. So I advice you to consult your doctor once for examination and further management.The examination findings helps us for proper diagnosis and treatment.
