How To Rule Out HPV Infection?

I just got my pap results back today and they told me that it came back abnormal. She mentioned HPV and said I will have to come back for further testing. I have my period right now so I made it for a week from today. Reading things online is freaking me out because its sounds like something bad to me

Hi thanks for asking question in HCM.
HPV is of two type like low risk and high risk type.
HPV infection lead to CIN-cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. But if it is diagnosed in early stage as in CIN 1 OR 2 stage then survival rate are good.
So here you dont worry.your first step is to confirm whether you are HPV infected or not.
And if you have confirmed HPV ,then regular pap and other screening done at 6 month interval.Chances of getting malignancy is high only if CIN is of stage 2 or 3.So before malignancy occur, with PAP it will be diagnosed and treatment done.
The confirmatory diagnosis of it will be done by immunohistochemical examination like FISH which is gold standard for diagnosis.
I hope i have explain you about your infection very well.
Best health ahead.
