How To Remove Excessive Wax From Ear?

My son had tympanoplasty performed on his ear 3 years ago. He is now experiencing drainage from that same ear and what appears to be excessive ear wax, causing some hearing disruption. Could this be an issue with the surgery? Assuming it isn t, what could be causing this? His peditrician said that he doesn t have an ear infection, however, his ear canal is extremely red and inflammed. Also, it is probably not related, but has also started getting nose bleeds almost daily.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your son have symptoms of drainage from ear along with excessive wax which seems to be due to ear infection, inflammation of middle ear and due to accumulation of fluids and wax. Need not to worry about it. I would suggest you to take antibiotic Ciprofloxacin you are not allergic to it along with Ibuprofen and Loratadine. You should take proper rest. If symptoms keeps on persisting you should visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription. Doctor will examine with otoscope and order CT scan .Get all the lab tests done for proper examination. Try to avoid excessive use of mobile as it will put more pressure. Put Otogesic ear drops 2-3 times a day. For now take benadryl twice a day a, keep your ear dry and apply warm compresses to external ear.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
