How To Reduce Weight Quickly In Children?

hi my name is hudson,i am 16 yrs old. my problem is that i am of short stature.i would like to find out if there is any remedy as i wat to be a pro basketballer in future. i am also on the large side. i would like to find out how i could reduce my weight quickly.and if it is through dieting how do i go about it

At age 16, it is possible that you may still grow a little more. Maximum height is normally reached by age 16 to 17 though some persons may grow for longer periods of time.

Final height is primarily determined by genetics. If a person is very short in stature , medications may sometimes be used to help with growth but this would have to occur before epiphyseal plate changes in adolescence.
This is an area at the end of the long bone that is involved in adding new bone, it stops doing this is adolescence and this is not reversible.

In terms of weight, there are different types of diets mainly low fat/low calorie and low carbohydrate but it would be best to speak to your parents and/or doctor before any changes.
