How To Rectify Irregular Placement Of Dental Crowns?

I had 3 crowns put in today. They are next to each other. The middle one was crooked and my teeth felt high on that side. He did file them and it was somewhat better. That middle one has a part of the tooth exposed. He said he intentionally did that because the gum tissue in the back is not the same as the front. However, The one behind it is closer to the gum. I am a new patient and I am really scared about it all. What do you think?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain exposing a portion of the tooth while placing a dental crown on the tooth is done when the margins of the crown are planned to be placed supragingival that is above the tooth margin..

But these kind of crown have more of a tendency to dissolve the cementing material that is placed inside the crown to stick it to the tooth and causes more chances of re-infection in the tooth, although not always necessary that it will happen for sure..

In recent concept crown margins are placed equi-gingival that is exactly at the margin of the gum..
Although if the crown is exposing a small portion of tooth it is not something horrible that is done but is still an old concept..
If otherwise you are finding the crown well fitted you need not to worry, just maintain a good hygiene, keep the areas of crown and remaining portion inside mouth clean and go for regular dental checkups every 6 months..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
