How To Raise Sodium Levels In Blood?

Hi, My wife has been diagnosed with low sodium. She was hospitalized in 2006 for this problem also. What can we do to raise the level? Not sure of the level.

Joanne is 80. 5foot 5-fought MAC 2006-9--also has a fractured bone in her polio foot and a urinary tract infection

Hello,

treating hyponatremia (low sodium levels) depends on its cause. Drugs is the most common cause of this condition. Diuretics, antiepileptic and psychotropic drugs, etc. Certain medical conditions may also predispose to low sodium levels. Hypothyroidism, hypoaldosteronism, serious infections, tumors etc
They is not a single treatment that fits all the cases. So if for example she's taking hydrochlorothiazide (HCT) then perhaps she should discuss with her doctor, if she could substitute HCT with another drug or lower its dosage. If she's got uncontrolled hypothyroidism then she should take the right dose of thyroxine. The list could go on and on...
So she needs a thorough investigation for the cause of hyponatremia first!
I hope I've helped you understand her condition better.
If you need more information, please let me know and I'll be glad to answer.

Kind Regards!
