How To Proceed With This CAT Scan Result?

My 70 year old sister in law has a chronic cough. She sounds like she has bronchitis all the time. Recently her internal medicine doctor ordered a cat scan. It showed she has a glass nodule in the esophagus and gall stones. She is not improving at all. He gave her some medicine to dry it up . This just doesn t sound right to me. I read some information on the internet that glass nodules in esophagus and lungs can be pre cursers to malignancy. I advised her to get a second opinion from a specialist. She has been through a lot recently and is nursing a broke foot. She is depressed and not wanting to go back to the doctor. She is supposed to return in two months for a follow up. I think this is too long. What is your opinion? It worries me that this could be pre-cancerous.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi dear!

This is all for your sister in law. Thanks for consulting the Physicians at HealthCare Magic. I have worked through your case thoroughly, and I can easily realize your health worries. Being your physician, I reassure you not to worry as things will settle down very soon.
Yes Ground Glass nodules are pre-cancerous lesions. Your worries are correct. But if your doctor will make it shrink at this early stage, then this ablated nodule will not be able to transform into a malignant one. BUT IT NEEDS CLOSE MONITORING AND FOLLOW UP.
And for gallstones, you should definitely consult your Surgeon. Because once the gallstones become painful(its very severe) surgery is the only option left. You have given no history of pain for her.

May you get very well soon and have a wonderful time ahead. Please don't forget to give your valuable feedback to help us assist you in a better way. Click at 'I Find This Answer Helpful' and give Stars too. Write a review about your experience with me.
