Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 7 week old grand-daughter is in the hospital with a urinary track infection and the doctors are talking about it being e-coli. I am trying to figure out how she got it so we can avoid this in the future. Any suggestions besides the obvious washing hands more, handling raw meat carefully?
As your grand child is a female anatomically her urinary tract opening and anal anal opening located close together(unlike in male child). when the mother use to wash her stools right back from front possibility of motion component will enter into urinary tract.
normally we advise female child to wash stool right from up to downside.one way to backward.
this is the major possibility of getting e coli infection for 7 week female baby.
