How To Prevent Infection Of Wound And Help Quick Healing?

My son received stitches on his outer lower lip Friday - the cut also extended all the way down his inner lip. The whole area just looks really sore. Swollen (he was hit w/ a hockey stick), crusty, dry etc. what can I do to ensure the area does not get infected and heals quickly?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The area can be gently cleaned with an antiseptic daily. This can be done once or twice daily.

In addition the use of topical antibiotic would also reduce the chance of infection occurring.

I hope this helps
