How To Overcome Tardive Dyskinesia?

I have been diagnosed with tardive dyskinesia, or dystonia? The put me on amantadine and clora?? don t have my bottle near. I have dentures that does not help the matter. On the tardive dyskinesia, I have never taken any drugs in my life so that s a hard one for me to digest. I have improved with the drugs, but is this it? This is as good as it gets. I have had blood work and nothing, I have had a ct scan and nothing. It s just my jaw and my tongue think they need to move continuously causing all kinds of distress

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Thank you for asking!
Tardive dyskinesia has a lot of options in pharmacologic therapy. Discuss them with your doctor.Other therapeutic agents for which there is some anecdotal support include vitamin E, levodopa (see carbidopa/levodopa), benzodiazepines, botulinum toxin, reserpine, tetrabenazine, and dopamine-depleting agents. Ondansetron, a selective 5-hydroxytryptamine-3 antagonist, has helped some individuals with TD. Discontinuance of anticholinergic therapy may relieve TD. A controversial strategy for treating TD is to continue or increase the dose of the dopamine antagonist.
I hope it helps
