How To Overcome Irregular Periods And Heavy Bleeding?

I have irregular periods, but when I do get them, I bleed so heavily and for so long that I feel extremely tired, weak, and unable to go places and exercise. I am bleeding through tampons and pads every 1.5/2 hours. If I were to go to the ER for help, what would they do? What can I do now on my own?

Hi and thanks for the query,
It is important to know the exact cause first. The history of use of pills is important. Knowing if you have any bleeding disorder is also important. An ultrasound to rule out a uterine fibroid or myoma could be very useful. Also, a uterine biopsy in search of uterine hyperplasia or tumor could help. It is only when these have been excluded that other common conditions like dysfunctional uterine bleeding could be considered and managed appropriately.
