How To Overcome Heroin Drug Addiction?

I am a long time off and on opiate addict, generally using heroin at the present time. This afternoon I took an 8mg suboxone sublingually. for 4 hours I still felt the effects of withdrawal until I decided to use 3 bags of heroin at which time the withdrawal went away although I had almost no euphoric effect. The dose of heroin helped but I still was not at 100%. At the present time I do feel about 95%. my question is, how long does one 8mg dose of suboxone stay with a person, not taking into account a persons tolerance or metabolism. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

Suboxone consists of Buprenorphine and Naloxone. Buprenorphine is a partial agonist opioid drug that is used in opioid addiction treatment to prevent withdrawal symptoms. The drug Naloxone is an opioid antagonist drug used to reverse the effects of opioids. Buprenorphine is not a strong opioid as Heroin which is a common drug of abuse and this is the probable reason you had withdrawal effects. The drug is metabolised by hepatic metabolism and if we consider elimination half life then its about 35 hours (mean) which can vary in persons. Traces can stay up to 5-6 days in body.

If even with 8 mg doses symptoms of withdrawal persist then consult a psychiatrist for help and for adjustment of doses.

Thanks, hope this helps you. Take care
