How To Overcome Anxiety And Compulsive Nail Biting?

Everytime i get nervous,i bite my lips to the point where i bleed,i bite alot of skin off and i do the same with my finger skin. I bite my nails and my heart races in little situations. My skin is purple and red and bruised. It only happens when i get nervous. Ive went to therapy, but it couldn t work. Like giving a presentation, talking, even walking in front of someone, even thinking about how ugly i am . I always worry about the smallest things,im told everyday,i stress too much. I just dont like myself and im very insecure. I always have dreams about bad things happening to me or my family and i cant control what i think and feel and i just...whats wrong with me?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

This is a form of anxiety.

Anxiety is very common and it can present in different ways including with obsessive compulsive behaviors. Anxiety can also be combined with depression in some persons.

Going to therapy was a very good idea but it is possible that you may need to combine this with medication for a period of time.
Many medications treat anxiety and depression at the same time.

I hope this helps
