How To Manage The Severe Withdrawal Symptoms Caused By Drug Abuse?

My 25 year old son was snorting painkillers....then about 2 mths ago I saw bruises on both arms....was wondering too why he was wearing long sleeves on such a hot day....called him today....he is in awful withdrawal....has no healthin surance.....what s the best thing for him to do?

Hi,

The best thing for him would be to take medical help to manage the withdrawal and to remain abstinent after that. If he cannot afford to see a doctor, then he will need to patiently wait for the withdrawal to end. He should take lots of water and avoid becoming dehydrated. He can take over the counter analgesics like Tylenol to control the pain. Preferably there should be someone with him to keep an eye on him and to keep him motivated. Even after the withdrawal, it will be better if he can see a doctor and start some prophylactic medicine to maintain abstinence for long.
