How To Maintain Healthy Relationship With HIV Positive Person?

First off let me give you some background information.  I am an 18 year old, semi-closeted (my parents don't know) gay male. And just recently, within a month or two, I met a guy who is very nice and fits in my life perfectly. However, after our first "date" he told me he was HIV positive. That night we only made out. At the time of me learning of his virus, I had no previous knowledge on HIV. I began to ask questions just as any concerned person should do. He told me that he has a count of 50, that he is tested every 3 months, and always stays up with his medicine. So, my question(s) is/are what precautions do I or we need to take, to better my health (being HIV negative) and maintain a healthy relationship? What things are ok to do, and what things are not? Should I be worried by kissing him or laying in the same bed with him? Also what precautions do we need to make when it comes to oral and anal sex? And lastly, what things can I do to stay negative in the long term? I sure appreciate your response. This has been a major issue on my mind and I'm anxious for a response. Thank you so much!! jusconcerned

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.

There is no harm to share the bed, share the vessels and utensils with your partner. Superficial lip kissing is also safe. All type of sexual activities included vaginal, anal and oral need protection with condom.
Regarding the count you had mentioned, it is not clear whether it is CD4 cells or the viral load. If it is viral load then his disease is under control and the chances of transmission of HIV is minimum and if it is his CD4 count then he is vulnerable of infection and likely to infect others through sex. When he has any fresh wound avoid touching his blood with bare hands. Bleaching solution can sterilize the blood spill over floor.
