Probably the decrease in milk secretion is not related to Meprate (Medroxyprogesterone Acetate) Tablets. It could have occured coincidentally due to other reasons. There is something called lactational amenorrhoea which you need to be aware of. The suckling of the baby leads to production of certain substances that inhibit your periods. So, periods do not generally occur while you breast feed your baby. The secretion of milk is dependant on the suckling of the baby. The more hungry the baby is, more it sucks and as a result more breast milk is produced. If you give external feeds, the hunger is reduced and so the baby sucks less and the breast milk production comes down. The reduction of suckling of the baby also has also therefore reduced the inhibition of your periods, making it irregular. So, it is not the tablet but the cycle that has caused your breast milk to be reduced.
Lactonic granules one sachet with a glass of milk twice a day may help in increasing the amount of breast milk.
It is now almost time to introduce semi solids into the diet. Although weaning is suggested at 6 months, early weaning can also be done to substitute the nutritional needs of the baby.
