How To Help Children Deal With Possessive Behavior Of Other?
Hi there, was hoping for some advice on how to assist my 3yo daughter with coping with a boy at her kindergarten who is extremely possessive over her, I have seen him cuddle her to the point of strangulation (unintentionally ofcourse) he dominates the activities she wants to do, his behaviour towards her overwhelms her and she shrivels up and is unable to stand up to him. She is usually a very vibrant, outgoing girl but when this little boy is around her, she becomes powerless. His mother has advised me that he tends to become very clingy and possessive. How should I help my 3yo daughter overcome this little boy's clingy behaviour towards her.

I can understand your concerns.
You should ask your daughter to say no whenever she does want to do something or like something. For this you can do role play with her. Initially you play role of your daughter and show her how to put your foot down when you don't want to do something. Then later on in role play you become that boy and let her play herself and allow her to practise how she will respond to that boy.
You may also tell her social stories of children who stand up for themselves.
You can also ask the mother of that boy to use this method with the boy to teach how to play with other without being possessive.
