Hi,

You first need to find out what your brother-in-law feels about his drinking. If he realizes that he has a problem and is willing to take help, then take him to a psychiatrist who can help him quit alcohol with the help of medicines and counseling. If he refuses to accept that he has a problem, then it will be difficult to help him. You and other family members will have to first convince him that he is harming himself and should seek help. You can do this by gently talking to him when he is sober.

Best wishes.
