How To Get Rid Of White Patches On Skin?

Hi
My son, 12 years old but don't why he always has some white patchy stuff on his face, especially in summer, I gave him some signacort cream, but the GP said he cannot use too often, otherwise his part of the skin will be thinner and thinner. The cream can help but sooner or later, he will get them back again, it is life threatening and itchy, but do you have any other way to help? Thanks for your advice.

Hi,

Your son is likely to have pityriadis alba. It is a benign condition considered to be superficial eczema. There may be hypopigmented patches on face and trunk. They are harmless. The condition may be exacerbated by sun exposure, infection anywhere in body, poor immunity, vitamin deficiencies, worm infestations..etc you consult nearby dermatologist for firm diagnosis, local steroids should be avoided which may cause skin atrophy. You may apply tacrolimus .03% oint. Avoid sun exposure. Give him vitamins and high protien diet. Short course of antibiotics may be given. He might recover. I hope you got my answer.

Thanks.
