Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 48 years old and just completed pre-op for an endoscopy. I got a call to call the office regarding my ekg results. I was told I would have to be cleared by a cardiologist because my ekg showed an abnormal infarction but that was as much as they would explain. What is that? I have had some pain in my left shoulder that I have attributed to muscle strain because I have never had any cardiac issues. I had a stress test done 5 years ago and everything was fine at that time but I am overweight and have not been exercising and my job is sedentary
Hello, Its mandatory to have an ekg taken before an endoscopy. In my opinion you might have probably sustained an angina which causes an ekg abnormality. Its advisable to wait for your cardiologist opinion before coming to any conclusion. Hope I have answered all your queries. If you have any other question I would be happy to help. Thank you.
