How to get relief from sharp pain in arm and elbow?

Hello I am a 21 year old male and through lack of choice have had to sleep for 3 months on a small sofa. About a week ago I woke up with a sharp painful achey pain in my arm around the inner elbow . Through prodding and poking I located the pain it is coming from my bicep along the inner arm where muscle meets bone, the ache and pain travels down my it is pretty much a cobstant ache but when I straighten my arm there is a sharp stabbing pain. What should I do?

Welcome to the forum.
From your description, it seems that you are having inflammation of your arm. Exact diagnosis can be made only after proper examination by an orthopaedician. So I suggest you to consult one.
In the meanwhile, for symptomatic relief:
1. Give enough rest to your arms. Do not raise your arms over your head.
2. Take mild pain killers like acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
3. Stronger prescription NSAIDS with muscle relaxants may help if simple analgesics do not help.
4. Hot compresses will be useful pain relieving measure. You may apply a local analgesic gel on that area.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.

It is very comon after improper position during sleep.. muscles get fatigue and hence the muscle pain.. to avoid this you should take some precautions while sleeping like you of soft pillows, or if bed is not available, then sleeping on the floor with some soft matress mis very beneficial. to grt rid of this muscle twitching, simple and light exercises are very useful like rotatind the shoulder joint 1stly clockwise then anticlockwise. hot fomentation also relieves the pain by relaxing the stretched group of muscles.. dont use painkillers directly for the pain ...
take care
