How To Diagnose If Tonsillectomy Is Completely Healed?

I had a tonsillectomy just under a month ago. Just before my two week post op, one side my my throat looked extremely low, luckily it went back up as the scabs began to go away. The other side dropped the same way soon after, but has not went back up and everything seems to be healed. Is this normal? Will my throat ever be even?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you had underwent tonsillectomy procedure, well you need not to worry about it. As healing process occurs and it keeps on going saliva and mucus formation starts decreasing as initially there will be drooling which is a very normal sign after tonsillectomy.

I would suggest you to

- Maintain complete oral hygiene.

- Avoid intake of sharp and salty food substances and take soft and bland diet.

- Drink plenty of water.

- Sleep on sides to fasten healing.

- Follow all the post op instructions given to you.

Visit ENT specialist once if symptoms keeps on persisting and egt thorough examination done.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
