How To Determine The Most Fertile Days For Conception?

Hi, me and my bf have been trying to conceive for a few months now n ive tried fertility apps that tells me the best time to try and I ve tried ovulation kits with the smiley faces that tells you the best time to try and nothing have worked. My periods are pretty regular I get them every month but not on the the day. I ve even tried tracking my exact cycle length n I m not sure if it s 28 or 30 or what. We re starting to think we can even get pregnant because of it. I m just ending my period as of today. What time frame or cycle day would be a good time for me to try to conceive? I know if u have 28 day cycle, it s said ovulation is day 24. So having intercourse 2 days before or the day of ovulation could lead to conception. I m not even sure how to go about knowing my exact cycle length I m just in desperate need of answers because we ve been trying the old fashioned way and just having unprotected intercourse for months!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I have read your description and understand your concern.
Ovulation generally happens by 13th day of the cycle in a normal menstrual cycle of 28 days. Hence, the period is considered to be fertile from Day 10 to Day 17. It is advisable to time your intercourse during this period to improve the chances of getting pregnant.
In case this doesn't happen after trying for 6 months, you can time properly by means of follicular study, which is done by means of ultrasound scan. In case this doesn't materialize after 3 to 6 months, you and your partner needs evaluation by consulting Gynaecologist to look for the cause, so that it can be appropriately managed.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
