How To Determine Diabetes?

My wife has been detected with high triglyceroids (more than 500). Her fasting is 152 and PP is 112. Is she a diebetic..?? Our doctor has prescribed Rozavel F once a day. She is having all kinds of side effects like vomiting, headache, body pain, nausea etc due to this. Is it normal?? Her weight is also high 95kgs.

Diabetologist 's  Response
Dear Sir,
Fasting values are elevated and ppbs is low. looks like reactive hypoglycemia.
Please take her for a Glucose tolerance test (3intervals). It is a very simple test where the technician will first take fasting blood sample, give her 75gms glucose and then take 1st hour and 2nd hour blood sample. This simple test will exactly tell us about her diabetes status.
Next coming to your rozavel F i feel its slightly higher dose (IF ONLY TRIGLYCERIDES ARE MORE). if LDL is normal and only triglycerides are elevated she will do better with fenofibrate alone plus will have lesser side effects. Please check her B.P as well.
With the given details i am giving you my opinion and not trying to contradict your physician who has seen the patient personally.
Wishing you well..
