How To Cure Red Swollen Nose Of A Baby?

My 2 1/2 yr old little girl has seemed slightly warm to me over the past two weeks but not with a big difference in body temp per se via a thermometer. I also have just noticed that her nasal passages are very swollen, red and scabbed over (she is not a picker) and she freaks out and cries when i try to look at them. We have had the air conditioning on for 3 weeks straight due to the high temps outside and i am wondering if she could have started with a mild nasal irritation due to dry air thay progress to this tissue becoming distressed and consequently infected thetefore producing a low grade fever? I would appreciateany answers or advice.

Hi...by what you quote I feel that you kid might be going through a season allergy. Fever can be due to viral illness also. If the fever or the redness in the nose is not bothering her you need not worry.

Cough and cold are viral 95% of the times in children. For cold you can use anti-allergics like cetirizine and for nose block, saline nasal decongestants will do. Paracetamol can be given in the dose of 15mg/kg/dose (max ceiling dose 500mg) every 4-6th hourly, that too only if fever is more than 100F. I suggest not using combination medicines for fever, especially with Paracetamol.
