How To Cure Rashes On Face Causes Due To Penicillin ?

7 month old baby with allergic reaction to Penicillin in form of rash on face & in ears . Has just commenced Benadryl until visit to Dr in am--is it safe to use Calamine lotion topically until Benadryl takes effect? One very unhappy baby!

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain rashes is a most common presentation of antibiotic allergy and as your baby has got allergic reaction to Penicillin, the first thing that should be done is to stop giving the antibiotic..

You can give benadryl as it is an anti allergic and will relieve the rashes and also itching that is generally seen along with rashes..
As far as application of calamine lotion is concerned, it is safe and can be applied over the rashes as it will soothe and relieve the skin..

You can also do cool compresses to reduce inflammation and also itching..

Visit a Paediatrician soon for a proper evaluation..
