Hello,

I understand your concern and I'm sorry to hear about this. It seems like an anal fissure is the cause of pain for your mother. This is a small tear in the moist inner lining of the anus. Diabetics do have a predisposition to anal fissures. I would recommend you put your mother on a more liquid diet with plenty of fiber, like fruit and vegetable to soften the stools and reduce the pain on defecation. Applying a diaper rash cream or moisturizer on the problem areas multiple times per day. as well as keeping the area dry should bring her relief.

All the best.
