Hi...My 7 year old mixed terrier baby has recently completed a course of treatment for kennel cough - and last night and just now has had 2 snorting "attacks" that seem to last several minutes and TERRIFY me for her - I don't know what to do - and tomorrow I am definitely taking her into our doctor....but what should I do here at home for her if it happens again this evening? :(

Hello, Thanks for your query. Most veterinarians treat tracheobronchitis the way physicians treat the common cold. They let it run its course while keeping the patient comfortable. Some veterinarians routinely prescribe antibiotics, which are effective against bacteria, thus addressing part of the infection. But because antibiotics have no effect on viruses, this treatment is not a cure, and most vets save antibiotics for more serious conditions, such as the secondary infections that sometimes develop in dogs with tracheobronchitis. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
