How To Cure A Stye Underneath The Eyelid?

Ok - my daughter is 19 - she had a stye around her eye in March - it never went away - it apparently has now become a Chilazion - it is underneath her eyelid on the bottom (close to her nose) and at times it becomes "bulgy and red" and at times the size seems to decrease. She is at university in another city and is waiting to see a surgeon - is there anything we can do to try and alleviate this? She is very self-concious of it.

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
It seems from the history that your daughter is having a chalazion. The treatment for chalazion in the initial stages is by hot compression and use of anti-inflammatory drugs.
The definitive treatment is by use of intralesional steroid in injections or by minor surgery, incision and curettage.
Hence I advice to consult your ophthalmologsit for examination to confirm the diagnosis and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
