Hi doc, i am 34 yr old female and i am suffering from hypothyriod since the yr 2000. It got normal and again recurred in the yr 2009 due to my divorce related stress. I am taking thyronorm 75 mg.Two days back i got my thyriod test done and my report is as follows: T3--86.59, T4--6.81 and TSH-- 53.06. My periods are also irregular and i feel inflammation all over my body and dry skin and hair as well... Please give me the best guidance regarding medication, diet and lifestyle.
Hi, Your thyroid function tests suggest you are still having hypothyroidism. Most common cause for this may be due to improper intake of the medications. I will suggest you to take the medications regularly - morning empty stomach. If you are regular with medications I would suggest you to consult your doctor who will increase the thyroxine dose to 100 mcg per day. You can do a repeat blood test after 6 weeks to see if the dose is adequate.
Since you have hypothyroidism for more than 5 yrs it is suggested to continue the thyroxine supplementation probably lifelong.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
