Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i am on blood pressure meds lisnopril 20 mg have been for about 7 yrs, my husband died one month ago after battling gbm brain cancer for 2 yrs I am beyond grief stricken and my blood presure just wont go down it has stayed pretty much 150's over 102, 105
I am deeply sorry to hear about the passing of your husband. You are also concerned about how to treat your hypertension. You have been taking lisinopril and your blood pressure has been continually high in the 150's systolic and 100 diastolic. This shows me you are not at goal. In my practice I would first counsel you to eat a diet low in sodium, rest regularly, exercise daily and try yoga or other behavior modification exercises to reduce your stress. If those measures don't help reduce your blood pressure then I would proceed with either increasing your lisinopril or adding a medication depending on the severity of your blood pressure and if you have other medical conditions.
At this point I recommend you do the diet and exercise and then seek medical attention if you pressure does not go to goal
