General & Family Physician 's  Response
short answer: diabetes is controlled by medications(tablets or insulin) along with regular timely food (low salt diet)and aerobic exercises change to an insulin regimen
detailed answer:
regularly check her blood sugar levels fasting and postprandial and continue regular medications as advised by your treating physician,
have a gentle walk each and every day at least a brisk walk for 30 min.
avoid oil rich foods
avoid non vegetarian items
space between each meals
include fruits like apple orange pineapple
have a good night sleep
as she needs to do operation in the eye you have to increase the hypertensive medications and you have to switch over to an insulin regimen as advised by your treating physician to control the sugar levels.
