How To Confirm The Requirement For A Heart Transplant?

A son of a friend of mine has a heart condition that hehas a pacemaker for and takes medication. He passed out and was medi-vac'd to the hospital. He is in ICU now and is showing signs of swelling of the brain. not sure how long he was out before they realized that he didn't just pass out but was not breathing. what are symptoms to be watching out for and what would make him not a good recipient for a heart transplant due to this event?

hi
in this condition most likely his pacemaker could have stopped, leading to cardiac arrest
if this condition was unnoticed for a longer duration, or not resuscitated on time the blood supply & oxygen to the vital organs get stopped
especially the brain were the duration for for early resuscitation should be within 8 to 10 min, otherwise the brain suffers major damage
called as cerebral edema, due to cerebral hypoxia(decreased oxygen supply)
later causing brain dead status
such conditions are not eligible for heart transplantation
