How To Confirm If Mesenteric Panniculitis Is Just Inflammation Or Cancerous?

I am 64 years old and had a cat scan and was rod I have mesenteric panniculitis and my primary has me taking 0.6 colcrys for inflammation. She also had me do a C-reactive protein for cancer. She did say if it was cancer it's over as no doctor wants to go in there. She was also told by a colleague at Sloan Kettering that a biopsy would be a death sentence if it was cancer. she said it most likely is just inflamed. Am I more likely to have an inflammation or cancer? I used to smoke but quit 3 years ago and have had trauma. I,m scared please reply. Thank you bill l

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of being 64, quit smoking 3 years back, had CT scan of the abdomen for which clinical history has not been provided.
The report says there is mesenteric panniculitis and unless proved otherwise it is inflammatory as if the cancer would have been present other signs and symptoms would be present. CT scan would have shown other findings like mass, lymph nodes, ascites and others.
Hence stop worrying. Have proper medication and review after 7 days with your Doctor. IF the Doctor is terrifying you have a second opinion of another Doctor.
