How To Confirm An Abortion?

Hi. I was about three weeks pregnant, I took cytotec as the doctor prescribed, I started taking the tablets on monday, I emmediately started to bleed however the bleeding was not heavy, I used one pad all day and it would not get full, there were a few clots on the first day, but very light bleeding , lighter than my normal period, however there was a lot of pain and Diarrhoea, I would mostly notice the light bleeding when I wiped with tissue, it lasted for 5 days, today is the 6th day and there is only a light bown discharge, was the abortion successful?

Hi,
At three weeks pregnancy, the abortion bleeding is little more than your period. But you bled less than your period also. Most probably the abortion was not successful (There is always a small chance of failure).

I suggest that you see a gynecologist and get an ultrasound done to find out whether abortion is successful.
If I were your gynecologist, if the abortion process was not successful, I wound discuss with you about using antiprogesterone followed by prostaglandin again to bring about abortion.
I hope I have answered to your satisfaction.
