How To Check Platelet Count If Suffering From ITP?

I have ITP and have been receiving NPlate shots since October. I will be stopping those to see if my platelets will maintain the 70-120 thousand range it has been at for two months. Why isn't there a meter to check platelets so I don't have to go to the docs every week?

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. You can go to the lab to get platelet counts evaluated. There are machines which can check.
2. If not sure, a peripheral smear for confirmation can be done for platelet counts.
3. Discuss with your doctor, regarding going about directly to the lab. You can get the tests done. No home instrument is at present available. The lab person, can come collect the sample and go and email you the report.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
