How To Avoid HIV After A Sexual Encounter?

hello doctor, today i had a sex encounter with a sex worker. In the middle, my condom got teared. Then I continued the act using a new one. I consulted a doctor within 1 hour, he recommended me to take Duovir n for 5 days. Is the best available option left for me. Since it is less than 24 hrs whether the medical would completely avoid HIV infection. what are the follow ups should I consider.

Hi
Thanks for posting
After going through your query, the best option is if possible get yourself and your parttner checked by finger prick rapid test for HIV infection. If it comes negative well and good that way you won't have to take any medicine.Get the test repeated after 3 month to confirm.
If she is not available for any reason then you alone should get blood test done.Meanwhile, continue the same medicine.
Take Care
