How Should Sunburn Caused Discoloration, Redness And Swelling Be Treated?
My 19 year old daughter suffered a sunburn on her legs even after applying SPF 50. It has been 3 days since and now she has a purple discoloration, along with the redness, and also swelling of both the ankles and legs. I have treated her symptoms with Aloe Vera gel, Ibuprofen and Benadryl. What else can I do until I can take her to see a Dr. tomorrow? Do you think I should take her to the ER tonight?
Hi...thanks for sharing yor problem here... Your daughter got sunburn on leg....you have done very well regarding her treatment..i usually advise my pts to wash the burnt area ...apply antibiotic+ steroid ointment...it reduce inflammation as well as prevent infection...like betnovit N...she is already taking ibuprofen thats good for pain...also i advise antiallergic to reduce the itching like fexofenadine or citrazine...give her plenty of water with minerals...hope she will recover soon...do apply sunblock with longer spf when she is going again out ...thanks Dr ihsan
