My dad used to smoke a cigar every 2 months but he has not smoked in years. I think he has only started Nicorette about 2 years ago. Even though the lable says if you smoke under 25 cigarettes use 2mg he uses 4. It also says if you feel the need to use it more than 12 weeks see a doctor but I don't even think his doctor knows. He's very honest with me. I asked him if he had a nicotine addiction and he said "I guess you could say that". I'm worried about him. Should I be?
He was smoking cigar and then stopped it and started taking Nicorette about 2 years ago. He is taking 4 mg doses. As per my opinion he has become dependent on nicotine and he should gradually reduce the dose of nicorette because long term use of nicorette may cause lesions in oral cavity apart from other side effects. To reduce the anxiety of withdrawal and craving medicines like Bupropion, Varenicline etc can be used. These medicines will help to reduce the craving and he will feel better. Visit a psychiatrist for help.
Thanks, hope this helps you.
