How Should Bruised On Face Due To Fake Grass Be Treated?

Hi My daughter grazed her face on fake grass at school yesterday. I cleaned it with Betadine and washed it off after one minute, covered it with gauze and soft covering overnight. I've taken that off and it looks a little moist (prob from gauze?). How should I treat it today?

Thx Jan

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

Grazing could have lead to an abrasion of the skin.

An abrasion would normally dry up in 2-3 days to form a brown crust before peeling off in another 5 days or so. The aim should be to prevent secondary infection.

I would have advised a topical antibacterial ointment like mupirocin twice daily for a week. This should be enough for an abrasion. This will not only keep it moist thus aiding re-epithelialization but will also prevent it from getting infected.

take care
