How Should I Prevent From Cyst Behind Ear?

I have a cyst behind my ear for the last 2-3 weeks, which I do not seem to be able to break. Yesterday, my family informed me it is discoloured (black or purple). Sore only to the touch. I work for two oncologists, should I show one of them or go to a GP for antibiotics?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have cyst behind ear, well sebaceous cysts are the most common type of cysts seen in the ear. Cysts may occur when oils are produced in a skin gland faster than they can be released from the gland. Swelling behind the ear could be infected lymph node also . Need not to worry. You should visit general ENT specialist once as there are many treatment options for sebaceous cyst like injection of anti inflammatory drugs , incision and drainage and laser technique . If antibiotics are not working then doctor may opt any of the above technique. You should consult doctor and start treatment after proper prescription.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
