How Serious Is The Condition Of Myocardial Infarction And Ischemia?
I just received a diagnosis through a nuclear stress test of anterior wall myocardial infarction and inferior wall ischemia. How serious is this? Are these critical parts of the heart? Granted, I get it that losing function anywhere is not ideal but if you lose a finger, you still have use of your hand. I m wondering about the level of concern for this area of the heart.
Hi and welcome to HCM. Inferior Ischemia is the loss of blood to the inferior wall of the left ventricle. This is caused by blocking or narrowing in the arteries in the inferior portion of the heart. This is a serious condition, and can be indicative of what is commonly known as a "heart attack". This finding should be taken seriously. The best advice for lifestyle health is simple. Eat a healthy high fiber, low sodium, low saturated fat diet, exercise regularly, abstain from tobacco and excessive alcohol use and drink plenty of water. Anterior wall and inferior wall are critical parts, talk to your doctor and get treatment, which may involved medications, angioplasty depending on extent of blockage. All the best
