How Safe Is Taking Metoprolol ?

My dad is taking metoprolol 50 mg 2 x a day, and I found out just now that his heart rate his getting low on low 50's & high 50's, & when I look up on his record book it's been going on for a while, is it possible that we could hold it every
time it is below 60. My dad is also taking glimeparide 4 mg 2 x a day, this pill interacts with metoprolol, why did his doctor prescribed this medication?

hello
as long as the heart rate is above 50 per min , and he doesn't have symptoms like dizziness, lightheaded ness , he can continue to take metoprolol.
- if the heart rate falls below 50 or he develops symptoms, you need to withhold metoprolol and consult your doctor
- glimepiride has no significant interaction wit metoprolol. metoprolol can be safely taken with glimepiride
