How Safe Is Ferrous Sulfate Drops For Anemia And Hydrocortisone Cream For Eczema?
My 1yr old's doctor prescribed Ferrous Sulfate drops for his anemia and hydrocortisone cream for his eczema. I gave him both last night. The cream caused his cheeks to turn very red. We put him in a bath a washed it off right away. The redness went away but he than had a fever. We gave him Tylenol and it seemed to help. I gave him the ferrous sulfate again today and his fever is back. I'm not sure which could or couldn't be causing it and if I should stop both all together.
It is quite likely that the occurence of the fever at the time when the cream was applied is coincidental. He may be coming down with an acute infection, the most common is the common cold or another viral illness.
Hydrocortisone cream is not associated with fever. There is very little systemic absorption and also, it is an anti inflammatory agent which means that it should decrease in responses such as fever.
The ferrous sulphate is also not usually associated with these symptoms.
You may want to consider speaking to his doctor.
I hope this helps
