How Safe And Effective Is Using Minocycline And Tretinoin For Acne?

I started using minocycline 100mg and Tretinoin 0.025% because for the first time in my life(age 30), I started breaking out. I have been taking my medication and putting on the lotion exactly how it was prescribed for a week now. Is it normal to be more broken out then I was when I went to the doctor?

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

Tretinoin is a very good topical medication for acne. It stimulates epidermal turnover and causes it to exfoliate. For the initial 2-4 weeks patients might experience a flare of acne because of the previously unseen/deep lesions that are now becoming visible. The flare usually subsides by itself on continued application of the cream.

Minocycline 100mg given along with also helps to keep the flare under control.
