How Much Lactose Is Safe During Pregnancy?

l'm 37 weeks pregnant and my hemoglobin is 10 which is quite low.. problem is to get it up higher l have been given iron etc which makes me very constipated... how much lacsatose is safe to take during pregnancy as 2 tablespoons havent been doing the trick at night just giving me wind... :(

I understand your concern.
As you said Iron medication can cause gastritis and constipation in many of the individuals.
So, you can take Lactulose syrup as suggested by your doctor as it is safe during pregnancy and not absorbed into blood stream. It acts as an osmotic agent causing softening of stools.
You can take plenty of fluids with green leafy vegetables along with Lactulose syrup for relief.
Lactulose can be taken twice to thrice daily if not sufficient, but please do consult your treating doctor over phone for confirmation.
