My health is very poor . i am under drs care actively working on weight loss. top weight 357.
Dear Madam, Insulin is very safe and how much ever dose you take it will not harm your health. Since your dosage is close to 420units per day and HbA1c is marginally high my personal opinion is that you will benefit from CGMS and insulin pump. CGMS will tell us exactly the sugar fluctuations. You have only mentioned Lantus. What about the before meal short acting insulin? A combined regimen of short acting insulin along with lantus will bring your sugars down and may also help in dose reduction. Since the dosage of insulin is high i feel you will definitely benefit by using an insulin pump. Personally i have seen patients do better and reduce their insulin requirements using insulin pump. Please discuss the above said points with your physician. For any other query please get back to us. All the best.. Dr.Riyaz Sheriff
